Eliminate Freedom

1933: Began by Germany attempting for citizens to stop purchasing goods from businesses owned by Jews. Signs were placed on businesses (like the one on the left) to pressure people from staying away.

Reads: Jewish business! Whoever buys here will be photographed.

1938: A law made it so that Jewish residents had to change their middle names so that they could be easier to identify. Jewish men had to change their middle names to "Israel", and women had to change them to "Sarah."

The new law also made it so that Jews were not permitted (allowed) to name their children from a list of "German" names.

1939: Germany invades Poland, which officially sparked World War II as Britain and France officially declared war against Germany. The United States was not involved. Yet.

Passports

Later in the year, all passports obtained from Jews were no longer valid.

They had to re-apply, and when they received a new one, there was a large "J" stamped on it to indicate that they were Jewish.

This antisemitic board game was created in Germany in 1936. The object of the game was to move the game pieces–caricatures of Jewish people–across the map towards “collection points” outside the city walls for deportation.
